BIOCODER - Bio-Medical Signal Simulation Software for Bio-Medical Signals (2 Channels)
The Biocoder is a computer simulated two channel stript chart with recording and play back capabilities. Its operation is controlled by clicking the mouse on the appropriate simulated controls. The following material covers the operation of all the controls and options accessory to display, record and play back multiple electrical signals.
Following options are available to user for OFF/ON line operations:
File This is the standard Windows menu bar
Options The three options are Ruler, Save settings now or Save settings on exit. The ruler option creates a ruler on the screen, calibrated in cubic centimeters, for use with the lung inspiratory volume tester. The last two options refer to the various other choices and settings of gain and position for each channel. The current option selected is indicated by a check mark.
Trigger The available options are Channel-1 through Channel-2 or none of the triggering. Much like on oscilloscope, the Compucoder can use any of the signals on one of four channels to start the trace movement a cross the screen.
BPM (Beats Per Minute) The five possibilities under this options are Ch-1, Ch-2 or Off when one channel is selected, the Biocoder will compute the beats per minute of the waveform and display the result on the bottom panel of the Biocoder.
Leads This section allows the user to identify any or all tracings as to their source in standard ECG Terminology. First select the channel then the electrical connection abbreviation. Channel options are (Channel-1), Channel-2, Channel-3 & Channel-4. Available leads selection are Lead-I, Lead-II, Lead-II, aVL, aVF, V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6 and Lead off. The selected lead will be displayed on the bottom panel of the Biocoder as well as on the tracing, on the initial sweep.
COMPUTER CONTROLS
G&P and ON & OFF Each of the two channel has a (gain) and a (position) control. These are operated with a single click and drag mouse operation. Each channel can also be turned on or off with on a single click on the bottom. In addition status is also show a green (on) or red (off) color.
Speed The speed control contains three buttons: <25mm/s>, <50mm/s> and <75 m/se> standard speed for Electrocardiograms is 25 millimeters per second.
Sample Button When the Computer interface signal converter is connected to the computer system and powered up, a mouse click on starts active tracing of selected channel's signals.
Stop and Pause Buttons These buttons or a record, playback or sampling operation.
Record Button The button on-line (real time) starts a recording in computer memory (i.e. a temporary recording).
Play Button The button starts a playback of either a temporary recording in memory or from a file.
To Save a recording To Play back a saved recording Pre recorded Electrocardiograms
Pre recorded samples are available for evaluation Four channels of ECG Atrial flutter Atrial Tachycardia Sinus Bradycardia Complete heart block Second degree heart block Normal ECG Normal ECG at about 90 BPM Premature rentricular contraction Four channel combination of normal sinusrhythm, PVC, sinustachycardia and Verticular Tachycardia Sinus tachycardia Ventricular fibrillation Ventricular tachycardia
